SleepGuard is built to be private by design. It runs entirely on your Mac, collects no personal data, and has nothing to send anywhere.

Local-only by design
SleepGuard is a native macOS menu bar utility that operates entirely on your computer. It does not require an account, does not connect to our servers, and does not depend on any cloud service to function. There is no backend that receives your information because SleepGuard never sends it anywhere.
No personal data collection
SleepGuard does not collect, transmit, or sell personal data. We do not gather your name, email, contacts, files, screen contents, or usage history. Because everything happens on-device, there is no profile of you for us — or anyone else — to access.
No analytics, ads, or tracking
SleepGuard contains no analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking technologies. There are no cookies, no device fingerprinting, and no third-party telemetry. We do not monitor how you use the app.
Touch ID and biometric data
When you unlock with Touch ID, authentication is handled entirely by macOS through Apple's Local Authentication framework. SleepGuard only receives a simple success or failure result from the system.
SleepGuard never accesses, reads, stores, or transmits your fingerprint or any biometric data. Your biometric information stays protected by the Secure Enclave on your Mac and is never exposed to the app.
Credentials and the macOS Keychain
If you set a PIN or password for unlocking, those credentials are stored securely and locally in the macOS Keychain. They never leave your device and are never sent to us or any third party.
Preferences
Your settings and preferences — such as unlock method, hotkeys, and display options — are stored locally on your Mac. They are used only to make the app behave the way you configured it.
Custom images
Any custom overlay image you use is one you explicitly select yourself. SleepGuard only reads the images you choose, uses them locally to display your privacy overlay, and never uploads or shares them.
